Following TIME Magazine’s reveal that Donald Trump was its runner-up for Person of the Year, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to voice her concerns over the honor. On Wednesday, Demi pointed out that while it’s important that TIME is shining a light on the “brave women coming forward against sexual assault on the cover,” it’s hypocritical of the magazine to also highlight Trump, “a man with sexual assault allegations against him.”

As Demi puts it, TIME’s decision disrespects the women – The Silence Breakers, which include everyone from Rose McGowan and Taylor Swift to the creator of the #MeToo movement, Tarana Burke – on the cover.

She continued, noting that being named Person of the Year “should be for doing something positive or brave,” just like The Silence Breakers. “It’s annoying that it’s just about impact on the news.”

Demi also retweeted a fan’s message about TIME’s exclusion of Kesha.

As TIME explained in its essay about Trump being the runner-up, “One thing is sure: love him or hate him, Trump has invaded our attention in ways previous Presidents never did.” In the same paragraph, the magazine says, “This has been Year One of Trump’s presidency, and the Trump show continues unabated. The reviews may be mixed, but no one can turn away.” Read the full essay here.
